new in version 1.1.0
Version 1.1.0 rebuilds Home around the teams, players and rankings you follow, then brings them to your Home Screen and your notifications.

Home opens on cards for your team, players and rankings. Arrows show how far each moved since the publisher's previous edition, and a New #1 tag marks a ranking with a new leader.

Show your team, your players or the leaders of your pinned rankings in small, medium or large, plus extra large on iPad. Auto picks for you.

Get a notification when your team's rank changes, a player you follow moves, or a pinned ranking has a new #1. Alerts are off until you turn them on, and changes found overnight wait until 8 am.
Or turn on the weekly digest: your favorites' week, every Sunday at 6 pm.

Search finds teams and players in every sport, not just rankings, and you can star them straight from the results.
The last 7 days in every sport: new #1s, the biggest moves in the top 10 and the biggest jumps in the top 100.
Tap ⓘ next to Points for how a ranking is calculated and when it updates, with a link to the publisher.
Share a ranking's top 10, a team or a player as a picture card, or touch and hold a card on Home.

what it does
Every list shows rank, team or player, points and how far each moved since the previous edition. Switch between men's and women's rankings with one tap.
Star a national team and Home shows its top men's and women's ranks, while its profile lists where it stands in every sport the app covers.
Each list opens with the date its publisher gave that edition, so you know how current it is. Rankings you've loaded stay available offline.
iphone duo
Folded, World Sport Rankings works like it does on any iPhone. Unfolded, it uses the larger screen like an iPad: in landscape your favorites and the sports list stay in the sidebar next to the ranking you're reading.

data sources
Rankings are published by the organizations that run each sport, such as FIFA, the ICC, the ATP and WTA, FIDE and Formula 1. The app collects each one after it is published, either from the publisher's site or from a public site that republishes it, and shows it in a consistent format. Handball is the exception: it uses an independent Elo rating rather than an official IHF ranking, and the app labels it as such.
Rankings follow each source's publishing schedule, not a live feed. The date at the top of each list is the date the publisher gave that edition, so you can always see how current it is.
questions
Yes. The app is free to download and use, and it is supported by ads. See the privacy policy for how the ad provider handles data.
Favorites cards on Home with rank movement and New #1 tags, Week in Rankings, a Home Screen widget, optional ranking alerts and a weekly digest, search for teams and players across every sport, How points work for each ranking, share images, and support for the folded and unfolded screens of iPhone Duo.
iPhone and iPad running iOS or iPadOS 26 or later, including iPhone Duo, folded or unfolded. Download it from the App Store.
Turn them on from the card on Home or in Settings, under Alerts. You'll get a notification when your favorite team's rank changes in one of its sports, a player you follow moves, or a pinned ranking has a new #1. Several changes arrive as one summary, and changes found between 10 pm and 7 am are delivered at 8 am.
Alerts usually arrive shortly after a new edition reaches the app. iOS decides when apps can run in the background, so some can be delayed, for example in Low Power Mode. To send them quickly, the app registers with our notification server; the privacy policy explains what that involves.
The weekly digest is separate: turn it on in Settings, under Alerts, for one notification every Sunday at 6 pm with your favorites' week.
Touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and search for WS Rankings. To choose what it shows, touch and hold the widget and tap Edit Widget: Auto, My Team, My Players or Rankings.
Each ranking follows its publisher's own schedule. Tennis and golf change weekly, Formula 1 and MotoGP after every race, and chess on the 1st of each month; FIFA and FIBA publish a few times a year, after international match windows. The app checks each source on a regular schedule and shows the publisher's ranking date at the top of every list, so a short delay after a new release is normal.
Tap the star to save a team, a player or a ranking: one national team, up to five players and up to five rankings. Favorites appear on Home and are marked with a star in ranking lists. They are stored on your device rather than in an account, so reinstalling the app or moving to a new device resets them.
