how they work
How the rankings are calculated
National teams earn points from WBSC-sanctioned tournaments across age groups, from youth championships to senior events such as the Premier12 and the World Baseball Classic. That means a country's youth programs count toward its ranking, not just its senior team.
Results are counted over several years, with recent tournaments weighted more heavily.
Softball and Baseball5 work the same way: teams earn points for their final place at WBSC events, and points count for four years. A World Cup is worth up to 1,200 points, plus a 180-point bonus for the winner.

When they're published
The WBSC updates the rankings periodically, typically after its tournaments finish.
In the app: the WBSC's rankings are checked daily for a new edition, and each list shows the WBSC's date for it.

Frequently asked questions
Are softball and Baseball5 included?
Yes. Softball has men's and women's rankings, and Baseball5, the five-a-side street version, has one mixed ranking. All three come from the WBSC.
Why are youth results part of the ranking?
The WBSC designed the ranking to reflect a country's whole baseball program, so results at every age level count.
Can I follow my country?
Yes. Tap the star next to a team. It is highlighted in the list and appears under Favorites.
