how they work
How the rankings are calculated
The ICC's team rankings are ratings: a team earns points from each match, depending on the result and the strength of the opponent, and its rating is those points divided by the matches it played. Beating a higher-rated side earns more than beating a lower-rated one.
Each rating covers roughly the last three to four years. Recent results count in full and older ones at half weight. Once a year, in May, the oldest year drops out, so teams can move without playing.
schedule
When they're published
There is no fixed release day. The ICC updates its tables after matches and series, so a busy month can bring several changes and a quiet one none.
In the app: the ICC's own rankings pages are checked twice a day, and each list shows the date the ICC gave the current table.

questions
Frequently asked questions
Why isn't there a women's Test ranking?
The ICC publishes women's team rankings for ODI and T20I cricket, and both are in the app. A women's Test team ranking is not part of the data the app collects.
Why did a team move without playing?
In May each year the ICC drops the oldest results from every rating, which can reorder teams that have not played since.
Does the app show player rankings?
No. The app shows ICC team rankings only, not batting, bowling or all-rounder rankings.
Can I follow my country?
Yes. Tap the star next to a team. It is highlighted in every cricket list, and its profile shows where it ranks across all the sports in the app.
