how they work

How the rankings are calculated

Judoka earn points at IJF events, from Grand Prix and Grand Slams to the Masters and World Championships, with the bigger events worth more. Results from the last 12 months count in full, and results from the 12 months before that count at half value.

Each weight category has its own ranking, and it decides seeding at major events and qualification for the Olympic Games.

schedule

When they're published

The IJF updates the World Ranking List after its events, so it usually changes every week or two during the season.

In the app: the list is checked on Monday and again on Tuesday morning, straight from the IJF, for all 14 categories.
