how they work

How the rankings are calculated

Players earn ranking points from their results at ITTF and World Table Tennis (WTT) events over a rolling 12-month period, with bigger events such as Grand Smashes worth the most. Only a player's best results count toward their total.

Points expire after a year, so a player has to keep matching last season's results to hold their position.

schedule

When they're published

The ITTF publishes a new ranking every week, usually on Tuesday.

In the app: the lists are checked on Tuesday and again on Wednesday morning. They are read from a public site that republishes the official ranking, and each list shows the ranking date and week, for example "W41".
